I am a pregnancy rule breaker

I don’t like the way that sounds! If you know me at all you would understand… I’m a do-the-right-thing kind of gal. BUT I have to admit that as a second-timer in the maternity clothes, I am not the same girl I was the last go-round.
The days of pampered pregnancy are over… I have a two-year-old to chase around to which I also eat and sleep around his highness’s schedule. Now I’m not so worried about eating lunch meat and I’m giving into my cravings for massive amounts of chocolate…. okay and a little feta cheese.
I also convinced my doctor to let me only take one iron pill a day instead of two because it makes me feel like shit, except I can’t. And reading baby books? What baby books? I just skim the BabyCenter emails… a far cry from the reading and re-reading I did with my first pregnancy. And can you believe I drank soda the last two days in a row?! Okay, I know that’s NOT super bad, but I FEEL super bad.
I could go on a little more, but I don’t want you to think less of me! Did anyone else experience this with the second pregnancy? Oh man, I’m feeling so guilty…

If those are the rules that you’ve broken than I am screwed! My doc told me that I could have soda and caffeine… up to two cups of coffee a day! And believe me, I take full advantage of it. I also have an occasional glass of wine, stopped taking prenatals with iron due to the awful non-pooping issues and eat a bit of pasturized feta cheese if it’s in a salad.
I think we’ve gone over board with what not to do. Be smart, don’t do anything in excess and remember that most of our mother’s drank and smoked with us and we turned out just fine.
